Product Description
RICHARD DENNING Consent form authorizing the Motion Picture Relief Fund to reproduce Denning's signature and likeness for a series of stamps raising money for needy film industry veterans. He has signed three, once to give consent and twice as a sample autograph. A perfectly verified example of a rare signature! Document signed three times: "Richard Denning", 1 page, 8x11. Hollywood, California, 1946 June 12. Denning grants to the Motion Picture Relief Fund, Inc., its successors and assigns, the exclusive right to use his name, autograph, photographic likeness, or artist's sketch of the likeness, for reproduction on engraved, embossed or printed stamps, and in stamp albums, and in connection with the advertising and exploitation of these stamps and stamp albums for sale throughout the world. Richard Denning (1914-1988) appeared in numerous film supporting roles, beginning with The Buccaneer (1938). After returning from World War II, he had difficulty breaking back into the industry, reduced to living with his family in a trailer park. Although Ball paired with real life husband Desi Arnaz for the TV series, Denning found plenty of work in the new medium. He co-starred with Barbara Britton in Mr. and Mrs. North (1952-1954), and had his own detective series, Michael Shayne (1960-1961). He had a recurring role as the Governor of Hawaii in Hawaii Five-0 (1968-1980). The Motion Picture Relief Fund was founded in 1921 to assist ill and needy film industry veterans, as expressed in its motto: "We take care of our own." The fund raised money through voluntary payroll deductions and celebrity events. As President of the Fund from 1939 until his death in 1956, film and radio star Jean Hersholt conceived Hollywood Star... For more information contact HistoryForSale. DOCUMENT 289288
